J Rail is a heavy duty hanging system; that is a more straight forward, and robust edition within our range. It's able to hang the heaviest of pictures, with the help of Steel Hanging Rods. Ideal for pictures with large steel frames and glass! There is also the added benefit of security! Both the rail and rods have various fittings, that make removing or unhooking your paintings near impossible! Very popular among galleries & museums (The National Gallery London, purchased this very setup!).

The J Rail tracking itself is quite straight forward. It's installed across the top of your wall, and simply screws directly into it. For actual picture suspension, you can use cords & steel cables; in addition to the steel hanging rods. Transparent Perlon Cord is practically invisible against a white wall, and steel cable is great if you have a slightly heavier than usual picture, but don't want to resort to using a more bulky hanging rod. They all simply hook over the profile of the 'J' shaped track. Finally, attached to the suspended cord cable or rod, is a picture hook. These hooks can be fully adjusted (up & down), and can easily be attached to any picture cord/string, D-ring etc. Aluminium Track Profile: 19 x 7.5 x 9 mm.

There are many different types of Picture Hook, that you can use with the cords, cables and rods. Some are designed to be used solely with Transparent Perlon Cord and steel cable, and others only with Classic Hanging Rods. For hooks used with cord & cable, variations are partly due to their difference in weight capacity. As the breaking strain of steel cable vastly out weighs that of it's transparent nylon counterpart, hooks that are designed for Perlon Cord don't have an as high weight capacity; as those for cable. What can also vary, is the existing hanging fixtures, already mounted on the back of your pieces. So our range of hooks has been developed to cover many different types of fixtures, as well as pictures: Framed or Un-framed, Mounted Posters, Plates, Ceramic Tiles etc. Note: The weight range of your pictures is definitely something to take into consideration, when buying any form of hanging system or fitting!
